![]() The bucket strainer in combo with the screen foot valve will keep the grit out of your pump and you'll also have a good spot to place some tension breaking substance in your feed too. Weight all this down with a stone and keep it in clean water away/upstream from your sluice run off. The foot valve and screen around that will keep out larger stones but we still then placed that foot valve into a 5 gallon bucket with holes (1/8") drilled all over the bottom and sides. If you've ordered a pump seperately then you may not get a foot valve with it but hopefully you do get one with it. ![]() That hose will need to be 3 or 4 ft long with a foot valve and screen set on it. You can use a tee valve at the pump to prime it but that isn't neccesary if you have a foot valve on the pump's inlet feed. Maybe 50-75 ft for a 5-6 hp pump.and possibly 25-40 ft for a smaller hp pump set up.Ĭouplers can be threaded or quick couplers, we had threaded sets on ours and found it helpful to carry a few extra gaskets for them too as sometimes one falls out and gets lost. When using the lay flat hoses, make sure to not have any kinks (gentle bends only) as this will restrict the flow and make the pump work harder and if the hose length is too long, then the kinks will cause too low of flow in the box.ĭepending on the pump size, you'll want to have enough feed hose length to reach a decent distance but not so much that it's not enough flow at that length up a slight hill. Layflat hose will do the trick and I've seen it in gray, blue and red colors. ![]()
